Advanced Skin Treatments
Skin boosters, exosome therapy and hand rejuvenation in Marylebone and St John’s Wood, London, with Dr Toro Ogundoyin: the treatments for skin that has lost quality rather than shape.
The short answer
What are advanced skin treatments?
Not every complaint about a face is about its shape. A great deal of what people describe as looking tired or looking older is skin: dehydrated, thinner than it was, rougher to the touch, duller in the light, crepey at the neck and on the backs of the hands.
Those are quality problems and they need quality treatments. Skin boosters place hyaluronic acid with vitamins and antioxidants into the upper layer of the skin, where they hold water and activate the cells that make collagen and elastin. Exosome therapy delivers signalling molecules that support repair, applied when the skin is most able to take them in. Hand rejuvenation treats the area that gives age away first and is protected least.
None of these changes your face. They change the material your face is made of, which is a slower and more useful thing.

Advanced skin treatments can help to:
Rehydrate dry, dehydrated skin
Hyaluronic acid placed in the upper dermis holds water where a moisturiser cannot reach, which is the difference between skin that feels hydrated and skin that is.
Improve texture and that dull, flat look
Vitamins and antioxidants alongside the hyaluronic acid contribute to overall skin health, and better-hydrated skin reflects light more evenly.
Soften fine lines without filling them
Plumper, better-supported skin makes fine lines less visible. Deeper lines need a different treatment and Dr Toro will say which.
Treat neck lines and a crepey décolletage
Thin, sun-exposed skin that is rarely protected. Both areas respond well and both are commonly requested.
Rejuvenate the backs of the hands
Hands lose volume and skin quality early. Where the problem is texture, a booster; where it is lost volume and visible tendons, filler. Often both.
Support repair after microneedling
Exosomes are applied immediately after needling, while the micro-channels are open, which is the point at which the skin can actually take them up.

Patient journey
What to expect from a skin booster
Consultation & preparation
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and aspirin or vitamin E for a week beforehand if you bruise easily. Come with clean skin and no makeup on the treatment area. Tell Dr Toro about any recent injectable treatment in the same area so it can be timed properly.
During treatment
Aftercare
Leave the area alone for at least 6 hours and keep makeup off for 24 hours. No heavy exercise for 24 hours. Avoid facials, sunbeds, chemical peels, saunas and swimming for two weeks. Small bumps settle within hours; swelling, bruising or itching usually resolves within a day or two.
Skin booster prices in Marylebone and St John’s Wood
These treatments work as a course rather than as one appointment, so the consultation prices the course. Exosome therapy for skin is quoted once Dr Toro knows what it is being combined with. Prices are reviewed periodically.

FAQ
Skin booster questions
What is the difference between a skin booster and a dermal filler?
A filler is placed deeper and holds a shape, adding volume or definition. A skin booster goes into the upper layer of the skin and improves its quality: hydration, texture, firmness and glow, without changing your contours. If your concern is how your skin looks rather than how your face is shaped, you want a booster.
Who are skin boosters for?
Dr Toro recommends them from around 28 onwards, for all skin types and tones. They particularly suit dry or dehydrated skin, early fine lines, and anyone who wants their skin to look better without their face looking different. Suitability is confirmed at consultation rather than assumed.
How long do the results last?
Around six to nine months after an initial course of two to three treatments spaced four weeks apart. Maintenance treatments keep the improvement steady rather than letting it drift back. Results build cumulatively, so a second course usually starts from a better baseline than the first did.
What is the aftercare?
Avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours and keep makeup off for 24 hours. No heavy exercise for 24 hours. Avoid facials, sunbeds, chemical peels, saunas and swimming for two weeks. Small bumps at each entry point settle within hours; any swelling, bruising or itching usually resolves in a day or two.
How strong is the evidence for exosomes?
Less strong than for hyaluronic acid, and Dr Toro says so. The biology is well described and clinical use is growing, but the published evidence base is younger. She will tell you which parts of a plan rest on well-established evidence and which are more emerging, so you can decide with the real picture.
