Fine Lines and Wrinkles Treatment in Marylebone, London
Treatment for fine lines and wrinkles at Dr. Toro Aesthetics in Marylebone and St John’s Wood, London. Lines that only appear when you move need a different treatment from lines that are always there.
Overview
Dynamic lines, static lines, and why the difference matters
Facial muscles contract every time you smile, frown or raise your brows, and the skin above them folds. Those folds are dynamic lines: visible on movement, gone at rest. Repeat them enough times over enough years and some of them stop disappearing. A dynamic line has become a static line, present whether your face is moving or not.
That progression is the single most useful thing to understand about wrinkles, because it decides what will work. A dynamic line responds to reducing the movement that creates it. A static line is a crease in the skin itself, and reducing movement will soften it but not remove it; the skin has to be treated as well.
Skin quality decides how fast the progression happens. Thinner, drier, sun-damaged skin creases earlier and holds the crease longer than well-hydrated skin does. Which is why the answer for many people is not more of one treatment, but a smaller amount of two.
The lines Dr Toro is asked about most
Frown lines between the brows
The vertical lines that appear when you concentrate. Among the first to become static, and among the most responsive to treatment while they are still dynamic.
Forehead lines
Horizontal lines from raising the brows. They need care, because the same muscle holds the brow up: treating it too heavily drops the brow and makes the eyes look heavier.
Crow’s feet at the outer eye
The fan of lines that appears when you smile. Most people want them softened rather than gone, because they carry a lot of what makes a smile read as genuine.
Lines around the mouth
Vertical lines above the top lip come from both movement and skin quality, so they usually need something for each rather than one treatment twice.
Lines that have set at rest
Static lines visible when your face is still. Reducing movement stops them deepening; improving the skin itself is what softens what is already there.
Crepey texture rather than distinct lines
Fine crosshatching on the cheek, neck or around the eye. This is a skin-quality problem and treating it with muscle relaxation does nothing.
Why it happens
What causes fine lines and wrinkles?
-
Repeated muscle contraction from everyday expressions, which folds the skin in the same place thousands of times a day
-
Gradual loss of collagen and elastin from the late twenties onwards, so skin recovers from each fold more slowly
-
Reduced hydration and thinning of the skin, which makes every crease more visible
-
Cumulative sun exposure, which breaks collagen down faster than anything else on this list
-
Smoking, which reduces blood supply to the skin and accelerates the whole process
-
Genetics, which decide how early your skin starts to line and how deeply
Treatment approach
How Dr Toro treats fine lines and wrinkles
Anti-Wrinkle Injections
From £185For dynamic lines: frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. A prescription-only medicine reduces the muscle contraction that creases the skin, provided after a face-to-face consultation and a prescription. Dosed conservatively so expression is kept, and reviewed at two weeks. From £185.
See treatment detail →Profhilo
From £240For static lines and skin that has lost its bounce. Profhilo hydrates and firms the skin itself rather than filling a line, over a course of two treatments four weeks apart, with results lasting six to nine months. From £240 per treatment.
See treatment detail →Dermal Fillers
From £300For deeper static lines and folds where volume loss underneath is doing the work, particularly the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Supporting the mid-face often improves both without treating them directly. From £300.
See treatment detail →Microneedling
From £240For fine lines that sit in rough or thinning skin. A course of four to six sessions rebuilds collagen in the dermis, which plumps fine lines from underneath and improves texture at the same time. From £240 per treatment.
See treatment detail →Prescription Skincare, Made For You
From £90The part that works on the days you are not in clinic. A formula built for your skin, at prescription strength, to speed up renewal and protect against the sun exposure that drives most of this. From £90 for the consultation.

Frequently asked
questions
What is the difference between dynamic and static wrinkles?
Dynamic wrinkles appear only when you move: frown lines when you concentrate, crow’s feet when you smile. Static wrinkles stay visible at rest. Dynamic lines respond well to anti-wrinkle treatment. Static lines usually need the skin treating too, with Profhilo, filler or microneedling depending on how deep they are.
Am I too young for anti-wrinkle treatment?
It depends on your lines rather than your age. If a line still disappears when your face relaxes, treating it is easier than treating it later. If you have no lines at rest and none forming, Dr Toro is likely to tell you to come back in a few years rather than start you on something.
Will treating my lines stop new ones forming?
Reducing the movement that creases the skin does slow the progression from dynamic to static lines in the areas treated. It will not stop ageing, and it does nothing about sun exposure, which is the biggest driver of all. Daily sun protection does more for your future skin than any injectable.
Can I get rid of lines without injections?
You can improve them. Prescription skincare, microneedling and peels all improve texture, hydration and fine lines, sometimes substantially. Lines driven by strong muscle movement will not disappear without addressing that movement, and Dr Toro will be straight with you about what each route can realistically achieve.
How soon will I see a difference?
Anti-wrinkle treatment starts working in three to five days and peaks at around two weeks, which is when you are reviewed. Filler changes things the same day and settles by two weeks. Skin treatments such as Profhilo and microneedling build over two to three months, because they rebuild rather than replace.
